Moon cycle

Why don't we measure our months according to the moon? The moon is constantly the same.
Why not have 29.5 days in one month? And then just count the months? Forget years, seasons (they are messed up anyway, we don't even know when they start/end anymore) and all other things. Just go by the moon, from full moon to full moon. Days are going longer and shorter (depending from where you are) everyday. That is so unreliable. I mean, sure, we can count days by the hours, but that is just a setting we agreed upon. It is not something that we can see happening in nature. There aren't even 24 hours in a day, it is more like 23 hours 56 minutes and 4.1 seconds.
Things are complicated anyway, no need to complicate it further. Leap years, equinoxes, solstices, daylight savings, blue moons and what not.
Anyway, don't take me too seriously on this, I am just thinking out loud, trying to keep things simple.
